"Amon's ability to take away a bending from a bender is fake?"
Energybending - A comparison.

While the Lionturtle and Aang use the same technique, Amon seems to be using another method.

When Aang took away Ozai's bending, and when the Lionturtle taught Aang energybending, they both touched TWO points on the body: the yin tang (located on the forehead) and the ru zhong (located in the middle of chest/breastbone) point. WHILE when Amon took away LBZ's bending he only touched ONE point: the yin tang (located in forehead)


Amon touches the yin tang point aka the Ajna chakra:

Yintang Acupuncture Point
Location:Midway between the medial ends of the eyebrows.

Actions& Effects:
:bulletblack: Calms the spirit - insomnia, anxiety, stress.
:bulletblack: Frontal headache.
:bulletblack: Sinus issues - congestion, sinusitis.

fact:
When Uncle is teaching Zuko about lightning, he talks about bending needing a certain amount of inner calm. So, if you were to close that chakra and lock all the anxiety inside someone, making them incapable of being calm, that would effectively take someone’s bending away.

Another Note: Amon touches the nape (back of neck) of LBZ too while performing the "taking away of bending from a bender" act.

TRIVIA:
There are several pressure points located at the back of the neck/nape. And right on the middle is called "AMON" which is coincidentally...or strangely.. Amon's name.

Very interesting! I have always wondered if maybe he isn't actually taking away their bending but preventing them from using it. It justs seems weird he can just take it away like the Avatar and Lion turtle did.
